Conception Bernardo, Patrícia Freire e Susana Alves

Guided tours built around the artist or the subject of the exhibitions open at Culturgest are available for schools. These tours are designed to cater to different age groups and may be planned according to the schools’ specific programmes or to the interests of each class.

Do you believe that walking may turn into a form of dancing? Steve Paxton, American dancer and choreographer, proved it. Fifty-two years ago, he invited forty-two people to walk across a huge stage and he gave each one instructions as to how to walk, stop and walk again. Paxton believed that every gesture could be a dance move; and that there was no need to theorize extensively about it, attention and focus would suffice. Why dance then? In his view, the answer was simple: “I think the body likes to move”.
