The anthropologist Eduardo Viveiros de Castro says that, for the indigenous people of Brazil, “Contradiction makes sense” and this is one of the cornerstones of the thinking of original peoples. The Professor of Ethical Leadership Jonathan Haidt says that his students are enclosed in politically correct bubbles and advises them to travel the world in order to be capable of Contradiction*. The psychoanalyst Carl Jung used to say that language should be ambiguous and have double meanings (contradictory, therefore) because only in this way will it do justice to our psychic nature. The alleged interferences of the social media in recent electoral processes lead us to conclude that the “healthy” media are those that do not present just one point of view, but instead present several views, which are preferably contradictory in nature. Is education for citizenship an Education for Contradiction? Education for Fright.
