UCP - Unidade Colectiva de Produção is the artist's translation and stance on the social and political reality in Portugal, an issue he has been dealing with from a visual arts point of view since the 1950s. The painting reflects the debate and the importance ascribed to the post-revolutionary conflicts and struggles surrounding the Agrarian Reform, the working conditions and the workers’ struggles.

As a result of close collaboration with prominent national institutions, UCP - Collective Production Unit is deposited at Palácio de Belém, the Palace of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic, and is installed in the Chamber of the Council of State.
