The world of jazz and free improvisation has taken note of what Portuguese drummer Gabriel Ferrandini has achieved with Rodrigo Amado's Motion Trio and the Red Trio, both now internationally famous groups. His quartet with Evan Parker (UK), Axel Dörner (Germany) and Sten Sandell (Sweden), all of whom have introduced a series of trend-setting innovations, is a direct consequence of this work. Ferrandini's distinctive and highly energetic music has brought him a level of recognition that enables him to play with top-line musicians from earlier generations.
