Ever since the beginning of his career, Carlos Nogueira has been developing works that can be generically described as “project drawings”. This category includes sketches for sculptures or performances, but also a wide range of graphic expressions that spread across music score sheets, journal pages, or other types of media we associate with bureaucratic activities. The written word occupies a peculiar place here, functioning as a mark, as an instruction, a poem, or an exhortation. Ultimately, it functions also as a drawing, establishing dialogues or tensions with the other visual elements that surround it. This exhibition will bring together a broad selection of these works, seeking to understand and celebrate the evolution that this aspect of Nogueira’s work has undergone over the last five decades.
