Stefan Kaegi / Rimini Protokoll

About transplanted specialists and remote-controlled audiences

How to stage living ready-mades and recontextualise experts onto stages? Stefan Kaegi shows and comments on a selection of short videos about some of the recent productions of the German theatre label Rimini Protokoll, one of the most influential contemporary theatre companies in Europe.

Rimini Protokoll often develop their stage-works, interventions, performative installations and audio plays together with experts who have gained their knowledge and skills beyond the theatre. Their creations transpose systems and social structures to the stage and invite the audience to contemplate a range of complex topics, such as climate change or European politics, opening up fresh perspectives about the world and the role of theatre.
