Sede de Mudança - World New Music Days 2025

In 2025, Lisbon and Porto will host, for the first time, the World New Music Days Festival, organised this year by Miso Music Portugal, in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The festival brings together Portuguese and international musicians and composers, this year, under the theme Sede Para Mudar (Thirst for Change), reflecting the theme of urgency and transformation that is imposed on the “blue planet” in the face of current environmental and social challenges.

At Culturgest, the University of Lisboa Youth Choir presents the concert Dawns and Downs a varied repertoire that includes works by Fernando Lopes-Graça, Jukka Linkola, Benjamin Britten, and Francis Poulenc and contemporary pieces by Dan Walker (Listen Are you breathing just a little and calling it a life?), Chris Sivak (Alouette Meets Her Maker), Mirela Ivičević (Innate Heaven), and Alfredo Santa Ana (The River of Hellos and Goodbyes).

Created by the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM/UNESCO), the festival, with almost a century of existence, marks a historic moment for contemporary music in Portugal and asserts itself as a unique event of artistic creation and cooperation.
