17.º International Festival of Cinema

For the 2019 edition, the spotlight goes to Jocelyne Saab: Lebanese, filmmaker, photographer and journalist. Her cinema, made of documentaries, reports and fiction films, has as its starting point the city of Beirut and then crosses the Middle East, the Mediterranean and different artistic expressions, with an intense and, at the same time, joyfully surrealistic style.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, is presented Rise and Fall of the Wall — The Cinema of East Germany, a major retrospective on films produced on 1946 and between 1989 and 1990, mostly by the state East German film studio DEFA.

The sections Heart Beat, From the Earth to the Moon, Green Years, Cinema of Urgency and New Visions continue their programming lines, alongside with the international and Portuguese competitions. The educational project and the Nebulae, a new space for networking, complete a program thought for a wider audience. Cinema to imagine, reflect and perceive the world.
