MIRAGEM is a performative exhibition about the ultimate end – extinction. An open dialogue with the end, in an attempt to postpone/perceive/accept it, MIRAGEM is a speculative action, a laboratory of new possibilities for imagination and experience. Necessarily dreamlike, the works presented are like pieces ripped from the collective unconscious that are shaped in the exhibition space and to which authors such as Dipesh Chakrabarty, Donna Haraway, and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro contributed. The exhibition features three installations composed of pieces in different formats (video, sculpture, sound), created by Joana Magalhães, an artist and performer who works mainly in theatre. Her work is characterised by a strong visual component and a playful mood. Research on the end and its discourses, and the work-leisure dichotomy have occupied a large part of her artistic production. This exhibition is one of the selected projects at Criatório 2021.
