Swarming Decay

Curator: Delfim Sardo

Show Closed

Following the Direção-Geral da Saúde [Portuguese Public Health Authority] recommendations devised to contain the spread of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19), and according to the contingency plan in place, Culturgest informs it will be closed from January 15.

Jonathan Saldanha’s Swarming Decay is a multi-channel audio installation. A swarm is formed from the sound tracks of everyday life. Human-made and mineral-extraction objects are activated by animal properties, moving through the air of this once active carpentry shop, in predation games.

To be presented at Carpintarias de São Lázaro, this installation is part of The Invisible Exhibition curated by Delfim Sardo that will be opened at Culturgest, from September 25 to January 10.

Jonathan Uliel Saldanha lives in Porto and works with music, video and motion. He has performed as a composer and a musician in many festivals and national and international venues, such as, Sónar, Primavera Sound, Issue Project Room, Elevate and OUT.FEST. His installations and performances were presented at Museu Serralves, Accès(s) Festival, DañsFabrik, Teatro Municipal Rivoli, Palais de Tokyo and Culturgest Porto.
