From Where You Came
From Where You Came
When she visited us in 2018, as part of Tim Hecker’s Konoyo Ensemble and also in the supporting concert role that evening, Kara-Lis Coverdale brought Grafts in her bag, an exuberant piece that left us dreaming of the future. However, seven years have passed, living through a pandemic in the middle, and almost accustomed to its silence, we receive From Where You Came, an album of moving and breathtaking beauty, made against our time, against our rhythm, against our expectations. Music from and for other spheres, certainly made for a transcendental and undeniable delight; music from and for electronics, which hides a rare mastery of composition. We listen to From Where You Came and think about the eternity of this music, how it will hardly be marked by time. Yet it also exudes an urgency, like a fruit of nature, ready to be savoured. In November, on the Culturgest stage, it will be our turn to harvest it.
