Music is the epicenter of WonderLandi. Everything revolves around it. Rhythm and melody form the choreographic matrix that orchestrates bodies, objects, texts, and movements.
WonderLandi is a tribute to music — this mysterious phenomenon that haunts both humans and animals. Could Civilisation exist without it? Throughout history, political powers, religious institutions, and cultural and ideological movements have used music as a powerful vehicle for spreading messages and awakening emotions. Music accompanies religious rites, battles, celebrations, and revolutions. As Madonna sang, “Music makes people come together.”
But music also has this unifying effect in nature. It is present in the mating rituals of birds, the communication of whales, the memory of elephants, the coordination of bees, and the social life of primates.
Music can hypnotise us, activate moods, and incite us to action. WonderLandi seeks to evoke the power of music, its omnipresence in nature, and the ways it has been perceived and celebrated across different cultures throughout history.
