Lucy Railton with Charlie Hope & Rebecca Salvadori
Premiered at the CTM Festival in Berlin in 2025, and born from a commission of European institutions and festivals that included Semibreve, from Braga, Not A Word From Me Me is Lucy Railton's new work for the stage, this time in collaboration with visual artists Charlie Hope and Rebecca Salvadori. This work expands the universe that the cellist and composer has produced, largely solo, around sound, the careful architecture of her instrument, the textures and harmonics mastered with atomic precision. It is, in a way, another step in her research, here expanded by a sequence of dazzling moments and movements, from electronics to the conquest of acoustic space, in a sequence of captivating stages and chapters. It is also music that dances amidst bursts of light and other sculptural luminous movements by Charlie Hope, while an extra dimension, physical and temporal, created by Salvadori's large screen, transports the performance to a multitude of hybrid narratives. Complete, complex, and captivating, but also visceral, tense, and metaphysical, Not A Word From Me is one of the most magnetic music, light, and image shows of recent years and an ode to multidisciplinary and collective work.
