This is a past event.
Applications for the latest edition of ACT - Art, Climate, Transition Summer Labs are now open until 17 March 2023. The initiative will take place from 4 to 9 June 2023 in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
The Summer Lab is organized by our local partner, Lokomotiva, who decided to focus the event on the function of "public space" in the urban environment.
Many public spaces in North Macedonia were privatized during the political transition of Macedonia from a socialist into a turbo-capitalist society. Thus, during years of corruptive public governing, public spaces were sold to private owners, in spite of existing regulations of city planning. Through this lab, we want to focus on the public spaces in the city of Skopje, which were planned as spaces of socialization and production of sociality, but have started to disappear.
We will visit the parts of the city where these ‘empty spaces’ remain and those where they were converted into private property. We will try to map these spaces and their environment and develop critical content that can include physical, poetic and socio-political material.
Culturgest supports the participation of one young artist in Lokomotiva Summer Lab, in the context of the European project ACT - Art, Climate, Transition. We are looking for performing arts artists resident in Portugal (of any nationality), up to 30 years old, with fluent English and at least three of their own creations, either individually or as part of a collective.
