MATTIA DENISSE

Hápax

Curated by: Bruno Marchand

Hápax is the most extensive presentation of Mattia Denisse's work (Blois, France, 1967) to date. Distributed in seven groups, the drawings and serigraphs gathered in the exhibition allow us to discover the main lines of production that the artist has developed in the last fifteen years and through which a universe as unique in its identity as it is multiple in its interests is revealed. Everything related to reality, but also to surreality, dreams, speculation, phantoms, astonishment and subtle phenomena, fits in the light of the artist's attention. A certain appreciation for study and scientific methods has, however, greater weight in his work. This is why notions such as essay, treatise, history, compendium, or allusions to branches of science such as geometry, optics, physics or pataphysics abound in it: all of them instruments for the observation and reification of a kaleidoscopic inner world.
