Ambivalence and ambiguity are features that run through the work of Rodrigo Hernández (Mexico City, 1983). Almost everything in its universe oscillates between states, as if it comfortably inhabited transitoriness. Between drawing, painting, mural, sculpture and installation, his works deliberately seek to create crossovers between disciplines. On the other hand, his universe is also co-inhabited by art and crafts, the past and the contemporary, the narrative and the elliptical, in a logic that dispenses with the need for hierarchies and makes the law of attraction the only rule of the game. Moon Foulard was born from the artist’s interest in the Italian stylist Emilio Pucci, famous for his use of printed fabrics in the design of his ready-to-wear haute couture. Although the imagination of the exhibition begins and ends in Pucci, his ideological range is much vaster: he joins in the debate about the role that can still be played in the contemporary world by the exercise of taste, style, form, ornament and, in the final analysis, by the search for pleasure.
